What is it?

The Alexander Technique looks to restore natural balance in the body and mind.

Stress and anxiety is now common in our society as we juggle work, relationships, health, finances, social media, news. This all contributes to almost constant excess physical and mental tension.
At the same time we live a more sedentary lifestyle than ever before, we spend hours at a desk, on a sofa or in a car, often staring into a screen.
Our bodies are not built to function in this way, over worked in some ways and under worked in others, and over time our well-being is affected in a wide variety of physical and mental problems.

The Alexander Technique was developed by Mr F.M. Alexander who was born in 1869 in Australia. Alexander was an orator who, upon developing a seemingly incurable vocal problem, looked to himself as the cause, rather than some outside influence. He discovered over the course of a few years, through rigorous observation and experimentation, that he had far more control over the way his body worked. By bringing the use of his body into conscious awareness he was able to stop the damaging habits that had accumulated over the years, and re-discover the body's natural way of being.
